The first interaction I had with RAPME was when I was in 5th grade and student volunteers for RAPME came and gave a presentation on engineering. The one hands-on experiment that I remember we did was the wiring of a battery to light a light bulb. From that moment on my best friend and I decided that is what we wanted to do; we wanted to become engineers. As I continued through school I took classes that would prepare me for that career path.
When I was presented the opportunity to become a RAPME counselor I accepted the responsiblity and to this day I use that experience in what I do as a NSBE Region II Advisor.
