Upon applying to Virginia State University for admission, you may qualify for the following scholarships:

VSU PRESIDENTIAL SCHOLARSHIP

OFFICIAL SCHOLARSHIP DESCRIPTION

This award is available to incoming freshmen who have completed a college preparatory course of study with a high school grade point average (GPA) of 3.2 or higher and composite SAT of 1100 or ACT of 24. This award includes $5,000 applicable to the cost of tuition and fees and a waiver valued at $2,000 applicable to room and board costs. This scholarship is renewable up to three additional years if the recipient maintains a cumulative g.p.a. of 3.0, participate in the University Honors program, and maintains residence on campus.

VSU PROVOST SCHOLARSHIP

OFFICIAL SCHOLARSHIP DESCRIPTION

This award is available to incoming freshmen who have completed a college preparatory course of study with a high school grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher and composite SAT of 1000 or ACT of 21. This award includes $1,500 applicable to the cost of tuition and fees and a waiver valued at $2,000 applicable to room and board costs. This scholarship is renewable up to three additional years if the recipient maintains a cumulative GPA. of 3.0, participate in the University honors program, and maintains residence on campus

VSU MATH, SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY SCHOLARSHIP

OFFICIAL SCHOLARSHIP DESCRIPTION

This $1,500 award is available to incoming freshmen or transfer students whose record reflects above average ability in mathematics, science or technology and a minimum cumulative g.p.a. of 3.0. Applicants must submit a personal statement that outlines goals, plans, and ambitions. Students must receive recommendations from a secondary school teacher or counselor and the Virginia State University Department Chairperson to be eligible.

  1. Complete and submit the VSU Application to be considered for the above scholarships.
  2. Submit, with the VSU Application, the following:
    • A completed application; which can be completed online or downloaded here;
    • Official high school transcript or GED scores;
    • SAT or ACT scores;
    • 2 letter of recommendation;
    • personal statement or essay;
    • $25 application fee.
